3rd Coast Salon is a full-service hair salon on West Erie Street in River North, Chicago. Cutting, color, texture and smoothing, styling, extensions, conditioning treatments, nails and waxing all happen in one place, with a stylist who asks what your hair actually does at home before anything starts.

Craft
Cutting and color are technical work. We build a shape around how your hair grows, falls and dries, so the cut keeps working after you wash it yourself.

You hear what your hair can do before we pick up a tool, including what will take more than one visit. If a service is not right for your hair, we tell you and offer something that is.

Respect for Your Time
Online booking is open any hour. We are here Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 7pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, so appointments fit around a workday instead of interrupting one.
Our Culture
The salon is built around specialists rather than a single house style. One stylist lives in color correction, another in vivid and pastel work, another in foil and balayage, another in extensions. When a service sits outside your stylist's strongest skill, they hand you to the person on the floor who does it every day instead of guessing. That is a large part of why guests keep coming back to the same chair, and why our Google rating sits at 4.9 stars.
Who We Serve
Most of our guests come from River North and the neighborhoods around it: Gold Coast, Streeterville, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, West Loop and Wicker Park. A steady group also drives in from the suburbs, mainly Evanston, Oak Park and Skokie, for color and extension work. Wherever you come in from, the visit starts the same way, with a look at your hair and a plan you agree to before anyone starts.

3rd Coast Salon is owned by Phillip Fowler, who works the floor on precision cuts and every extension service the salon offers.
